Micah

  • Where it fits: Divided Kingdom period (Between 740 and 686), with the looming reality that Israel has fallen to Assyria, with Judah soon to follow.
  • Core message: God judges injustice and empty religion, but He will restore His people and keep His promises.
  • Big themes: justice + mercy, leadership accountability, judgment/restoration, hope for a coming king.
  • Structure: often cycles between
    • sin exposed → judgment announced → future restoration promised
  • Why it matters: Micah ties personal faith to public life: what you claim to believe must affect how you live.

Micah 7:8

Do not gloat over me, my enemy!
Though I have fallen, I will rise.
Though I sit in darkness,
the Lord will be my light.

Micah points hope beyond the kingdom of Israel and to God’s eternal Kingdom.
