Zechariah

  • Where it fits: Exile & Restoration (ca. 550–400 BC), with Persia as the dominant empire.
  • Core message: God hasn’t abandoned His people; He’s rebuilding them and pointing forward to a coming King and kingdom.
  • Big themes: visions, repentance, God’s presence, future messianic hope, spiritual renewal.
  • Structure:
    1. Night visions (symbolic, hope-filled, corrective)
    2. Teaching about true worship and justice
    3. Future-focused prophecies of the King/kingdom
  • Why it matters: Zechariah helps a tired community see their small obedience inside a massive story.
